Greig & Stephenson has been appointed to develop interiors as part of a 15m refurbishment programme at the Winkelcentrum (shopping centre) in Zuidplein, The Netherlands.

The design group will work with local architect deJong Hoogveld deKat. The centre is run on a co-operative basis, meaning more than 100 shopkeepers have to approve all plans before they are implemented.

Greig & Stephenson directors Ken Greig and Nigel Stephenson were initially involved with the 80 000m2 centre while they were directors at the architectural arm of Fitch, which developed an extension to the centre in 1994 (pictured).

On-site work for the refurbishment starts during the spring, with completion scheduled for October 1999.
