Seymour Powell’s Richard Seymour has been elected as the next design president of British Design and Art Direction.
He beat fellow candidate Richard Mellor, creative director of Hyperinteractive, by 200 votes to 123.
In his election manifesto Seymour urged designers and advertising people to “row in the same direction now to ensure that we go from strength to strength”.
He takes over as president from ad man Tim Mellors next January.
Mellor’s active campaigning seems to have had greater impact on Design Week readers. Our phone poll recorded 147 votes for Mellor and 23 for Seymour.
