Apple designer pips DOTY prize

Jonathan Ive, vice-president of industrial design at Apple, has won the inaugural £25 000 Design Museum Designer of the Year prize, for his work on products like the iMac and iPod MP3 player.

Fashion designer Sir Paul Smith, one of the judges, says Ive was selected because his designs have ‘transformed the workplace’.
