Russian retailer turns to the UK

Russian electrical retail chain Dial Electronics has turned to the UK for design expertise as part of a plan to revolutionise the Russian retailing sector.

The chain is seeking a design group to develop branding, retail environment and communications strategies. Staff at design groups including Fitch, Rodney Fitch and BDG McColl confirm their presence on a shortlist.

Rodney Fitch has sent creative director Gabriel Murray and managing director Charles Jenkins on a fact-finding trip to Russia.

The retailer is also in talks with rival group Revolution, confirms the consultancy’s head of retail and interiors Derrick Pover.

An appointment is expected within two weeks. No one at Dial Electronics was available for comment as Design Week went to press. Fitch executive director Giles Marking says the situation is “all quiet on the Western front”.
