Terminal decision

BAA has appointed Chapman Taylor as retail consultant to Heathrow’s planned Terminal 5, after a two-way paid pitch against BDG McColl.

It will be responsible for the layout of retail units and the general organisation of the space – approximately 30 000m2 air-side (beyond check-in desks) and 12 600m2 land-side.

Chapman Taylor will start basic conceptual work next month and may work alongside BAA’s in-house design team on the terminal’s retail strategy, says a client spokesman. Terminal 5 is expected to get Government go-ahead next year.
