Designer Lydia Thornley achieved this solarised fruit effect by directly scanning in slices of real fruits and manipulating the images in Photoshop. The results adorn the 1997-1998 annual report of The Renewal Programme, a charity co-ordinating social and training projects based in the London Borough of Newham. Thornley chose exotic fruits such as lychees, kumquats and kiwi fruit to reflect the cosmopolitan area.

Fashion chain Jigsaw Menswear has opted for a stripped out industrial style format for its redesigned King’s Road store in London. Created by Found, the changes open out the basement area with a new staircase. ‘The aim was to set up a contrast between the industrial and the refined,’ says consultancy founder Richard Found. The open staircase forms a visual link from the ground floor down to the changing rooms and a new rear display unit.
