DBA Scotland event to focus on provinces

The responsibility of design as a catalyst for change in Scotland will be raised by the Design Business Association Scotland in a forthcoming workshop.

Titled Scottish Design Second Design Industry Workshop, the event will take place on 6 and 7 October in Grampian. It will discuss Scotland’s desire to focus away from Glasgow and Edinburgh.

“It’s crucial that we hold an event which will take the debate on design into the Scottish regions,” says DBA Scotland co-ordinator Lianne Hackett. British Council director Malcolm Reading is guest speaker.

Delegates include Frank Binnie, chief executive of Scottish Design, Ross Hunter of Glasgow’s Graven Images and DBA chairman Jonathan Sands.

Communication by Design, organised by design support group Wealth in Design, will take place in Edinburgh on 13 and 14 November. Speakers include Jenkins Group chairman Nick Jenkins, James Woudhuysen of think tank The Henley Centre and Wolff Olins principal Wally Olins.
