Wanted: bow-legged designers with nice tackle. The football terraces are not the most obvious place to source creatives, but, according to digital consultancy Designer-city, they are a hotbed of talent.
To prove it, the group is advertising for on-line designers on client Arsenal FC’s website to overcome the shortage of Internet creatives. The quantity and eagerness of respondents has been huge, with 160 enquiries in three days, but the quality remains dubious – this is Arsenal, after all. One keen South Africa-based Gunners supporter volunteered to work for free, and a ten-year-old fan boasted the necessary qualifications – enthusiasm and match-day availability – except HTML and graphic design experience.
Well, you can’t have everything.
