Support students if you want fresh talent

I found Fritz Fitton’s letter very enlightening (Letters DW 22 September). The bad treatment of students will never change unless they start to demand more from their colleges.

It is always heartening to see good colleges build strong links with businesses. Building relationships with colleges is much the same as building relationships with clients – we often have to be prepared to put more effort in.

I am an external examiner for the Croydon College of Arts, and it is always a pleasure to give something back to education and encourage young blood.

At Still Waters Run Deep, we run a student placement scheme with the Kent Institute of Art & Design, and we have employed three students as a result.

It is rewarding to know that the time and effort has paid off, and we have secured some exciting talent as a result.
