Enter Design Week awards

The call for entries has gone out for the 1997 Design Week Awards for creative excellence. The closing date is Friday 25 October.

The categories are boosted to 18 this year by two new additions. A second screen graphics category has been added to assess TV graphics and Website and CD-ROM design. And the product section has been divided into domestic and industrial sections.

The graphics categories cover corporate identity, annual reports, branded and own-brand packaging, literature design, direct mail, posters and calendars. Retail design, restaurants, reception areas, exhibitions and furniture make up the 3D sections. A “best of show” prize will be judged across all categories.

In most categories, projects completed in the 12 months to the end of September will be eligible.

The Body Shop design head Jon Turner will chair the judges, who will include Frances Newell of Newell and Sorrell, Malcolm Garrett of AMX Digital, product consultant Dale Russell, Adrian Caddy of Imagination, Quentin Newark of Atelier Works and Daniel Weil of Pentagram.
