Starck flavour of the month

Designer Philippe Starck has been shortlisted for a Time Out Eating and Drinking Award. The scheme includes a restaurant and bar Best Interior Design category for the first time. Starck has been nominated for the Asia de Cuba restaurant at the new St Martins Lane Hotel in London.

Six London restaurants have been put forward for the award, including Belgo Zuid in Ladbroke Grove, designed by Foreign Office Architects; Fluid, by Misha Stefan, and Julyan Wickham’s Fish!, in SE1. Other nominees include Daniel Simmonds, owner and designer of Feast in Clerkenwell, and Isola in Knightsbridge, designed by Fin Architects.

The new design accolade aims to reflect consumers’ increasingly varied dining needs. The London listings magazine has also introduced Best Family Restaurant and Best Gastropub categories to the awards. The winners will be announced on 5 June.
