Canon UK appointment is looming

Canon UK is on the verge of appointing a consultancy to design and manage its trade and consumer exhibitions for the next three years.

Four consultancies have taken part in a strategic and creative pitch and an appointment is expected in the next two days. The work is worth more than £150 000, says Canon UK marketing communications manager Sarah Dale. It includes all branding and exhibition design, and project management.

Canon UK is looking to consolidate the design and management of its national and regional exhibitions, which promote existing and new products including printers, video recorders, scanners and cameras.

‘We are looking for an overhaul of the exhibition design. Canon UK is one brand so it makes sense to consolidate with one company to ensure our brand message is consistent,’ says Dale.

Canon UK refuses to reveal the identities of the consultancies involved.

Two of the four consultancies on the shortlist have been responsible for the design and management of the business-to-business and consumer exhibitions for several years, says Dale.

Barsby Prince & Partners was selected by Canon UK to design and build its exhibition stands for the 1999/2000 season (DW 25 June 1999). However, it went into voluntary liquidation in August.
