Blue Marlin carves out branding for Isklar

Blue Marlin has developed the complete branding and packaging for a new brand of mineral water set to launch in the UK in 2008.

Isklar, which means ‘ice clear’ in Norwegian, will be the first UK water brand imported from Norway and plans to trade on its heritage credentials. Blue Marlin’s identity aims to capture something of the brand’s history. The consultancy has been involved in the naming, brand positioning, identity, graphic design, structural design and packaging.

Featuring a faceted brand icon composed of lighter and darker shades, the angular typeface is inspired by the structure of glacial ice. Graphics and structure come together in a lightweight bottle, which includes 73 facets, like a prism, creating a unique light-effect. The blue-and-white label is semi-transparent.

Martin Grimer, Blue Marlin executive creative director, says, ‘The faceted structure of the bottles bring to life the intricate composition of glacial formations, maximising light and refraction to visually represent the unique properties of this water.’

The group is developing packaging, marketing and on-line materials in preparation for Isklar’s launch, alongside the activities of a number of other partner agencies in the lead-up to the launch next year.

As well as the core brand, Isklar will offer a children’s range and an Aktiv range.
