Cable & Wireless Communications, (CWC), which will be the UK’s biggest cable company when it launches in April, has still not started looking for identity designers.

Designers may not be brought in to create a new logo, says a Cable & Wireless spokeswoman, and the company may just adapt the existing C&W marque, which was redesigned by Tor Pettersen & Partners with typeface input from CGI (DW 28 February 1992).

Meanwhile, C&W subsidiary Mercury Communications’ logo is being scrapped in preparation for its forthcoming merger with Nynex Cable, Bell Cablemedia and Videotron.

A CWC logo and signage should be up at Mercury Communications headquarters in April, when the new company is formed.
