Glasgow types up ’99 shortlist

A shortlist of seven design groups and designers has been drawn up to create a typeface for Glasgow’s year as City of Architecture & Design in 1999.

The seven shortlisted are: Graven Images, Meta Design, Tank, Jonathan Barnbrook, Jeremy Tankard, Alias, and David Quay & Freda Sack Design. The festival’s original bid logo was developed by Graven Images.

Each group will get 500 to develop proposals. The winner, to be announced in late February, will receive a design development fee and a percentage of royalties, and will develop the typeface into the festival logo.
