The use of Java as a generic term can become confusing as it comes in different flavours. Javascript is an object-scripting language for HTML running in the user’s browser and adding functionality to web pages. Basically, it could be described as Java Lite. Java itself is the full programming language on which Javascript is based, while HotJava is Sun’s Java- enabled web browser.
