Dyson DC01 up there with Concorde, says Dyson

James Dyson has selected his list of twentieth century design icons for a new book. Proceeds from the sale of the book will be donated to the Terrence Higgins Trust.

The 27 icons include the both the original Volkswagen Beetle and the New Beetle, Concorde, Chicago skyscraper the John Hancock Centre, a range of Sony Walkman personal stereos, Ron Arad’s Bookworm Bookcase and Toshiyuki Kita’s Wink chair.

But Dyson appears to have succumbed to self-indulgence with the inclusion of two particular icons – the revolutionary Dyson DC01 vacuum, and the Design Museum, of which he is chairman.
