Coley Porter Bell head of brands Amanda Connolly has taken over as managing director.

Previous managing director Helena Rees has stepped down “in order to spend more time with her young family”, according to a CPB spokeswoman.

The rest of the board remains unchanged, but Rees’ departure follows 18 months of high-level changes at the WPP Group-owned consultancy. Since former managing director Jan Hall left in January 1994 and Rees took over, CPB has lost at least three board directors in Bruce Webster, Stephen Franks and Jill Marshall.

Colin Porter remains chairman but has scaled down his day-to-day involvement at the branding and identity consultancy.

Connolly says, “I am planning to make some changes. We have had a very successful last 18 months and we need to build on that and continue to grow.” She says Rees has made a “very brave decision”, adding: “There’s a lot to do at CPB and it’s hard to be here when family demands are also difficult.”
