Never was a designer more aptly named than Andy Bravey of Firbank Kempster Creative Partners.

Bravey (centre) is a courageous chap. His wife Barbara died of cancer three months ago, and this cycling trip from Lands End to John O’Groats raised more than 10 000 for the Barbara Bravey Memorial Fund, which he set up to raise money for the hospice where she died. Cancer Research will also receive a donation.

Bravey, an exhibition designer, and colleagues Mark Carpenter (left) and Martyn Newton, cycled 95 miles a day for two weeks, mostly into the wind. “Although we kept the drinking down, the cycling was really hard work,” adds Bravey. “But fortunately it only rained once.”
