UK design team wins Czech retail work

Developer Prague Investments has appointed Matrix Design to revamp the catering area of its Pavilion shopping centre in the Czech capital.

Matrix is designing a scheme to occupy 930m2 of the basement and ground floor levels of what was a market hall. The design proposals are limited by the structure of the historic building.

The 780 000 project was given to Matrix on the strength of its previous retail work. The consultancy aims to finish the redesign by the autumn.

m British designers last week won rave reviews at the eighth Prague Quadrennial exhibition of theatre stage design. The British entry – including work by Kate Borthwick, Tim Hatley, Kendra Ullyart, Imagination’s Peter Ruthwen Hall, and the Welfare State International Company – received a specially created gold medal. The Brazilian entry won the Gold Triga award.
