AMXStudios
AMXstudios has designed three interactive exhibits for Who am I and 32 audio visual installations for the Pattern Pod, Who Am I and Digitopolis galleries.
Its brief was to work alongside design consultancies Casson Mann, Graphic Thought Facility and Johnson Banks to develop the on-screen graphic identities of the various installations. The aim was to communicate the right message in a basic, scientific and entertaining way.
The interactive exhibition Conscious or Not is an exploratory game aimed at eight- to 12-year-olds, which guides them through different levels of consciousness. Altered States looks at certain brain states such as anaesthesia, screaming and psychedelic drugs. Looking for Consciousness is based on a scientific experiment which tests the brain’s activity.
The audio visual pieces explore issues of human and animal language, learning and development, phobias, predicting the future and virtual reality. The look and feel of the work displays continuity with the exhibition graphics. ‘We adopted the graphic/ typographic style of Graphic Thought Facility throughout all the pieces of work,’ says Maxine Gregson, lead interactive designer at AMXstudios. ‘There were some interface considerations to be resolved and we had to add some extra typefaces for the AVs, so they could be visible at a distance. Colours used are blues and oranges; the overall feel is modern and simple.’
