Digital role for The Assembly

Several former staff members from Scottish design groups The Silvermills Studio and Department S have joined forces to establish a new digital media design consultancy in Edinburgh.

Launched last week, The Assembly is headed by managing director Campbell Shirlaw, previously financial director of The Silvermills Studio – a sister company to The Leith Agency. Dr Jim Hine, senior lecturer in management organisation and ethics at Edinburgh University, has been appointed chairman.

Claiming to be Scotland’s first full service digital media consultancy, The Assembly will provide design and in-house technical and marketing services. “Companies now require the skills to build brands on- and off-line, enabling them to sell themselves, their products and services across all media,” says Shirlaw.

“We are well positioned to steal a march on this continuously evolving market, which captures the blurring of distinction between the traditional and e-commerce worlds,” he adds.
