Nestlé names five on its roster

Nestlé has finally confirmed the consultancies on its new roster, slashed to five from 26 regular design suppliers as part of cost-saving moves by the company internationally.

Design Bridge, Planet, Smith & Milton Original, Hill Watson and Lawson Marshall Cole will work exclusively on packaging projects for Nestlé UK. A company spokeswoman says groups outside the roster will no longer be used.

“The whole objective has been to reduce the size of the roster and therefore we will be driving all the business through [the listed] consultancies,” says the spokeswoman. “It makes sense to work with a fewer number of partners to cultivate long-term relationships,” she adds.

Wagstaffs, Landor, Brown Inc and Coley Porter Bell are some of the groups which have worked with Nestlé but have not been appointed to the roster.

Nestlé’s Canadian and US operations have already downsized, with the US roster cut by two thirds to six groups, and Canada reducing its roster to just one – Toronto’s Russell Design (DW 19 April).
