Minted student displays notes on how to get rich

We’re always hearing how students haven’t got two pennies to rub together. But a bit of financial hardship can go a long way creatively, it seems.

Camberwell College of Arts student Bada Song spent four-and-a-half months crafting her own currency for her final-year project. Each of the 259 ‘bada notes’ feature an original self-portrait and her life story handwritten in pencil.

This newly minted stash is on show at the London Institute Gallery until 13 June. It’s not clear what the authorities thought when she submitted her ‘tuition fees’. Whatever its merits as an art or political statement, it beats working at the local cash and carry as a way of making ends meet.
