New trollies wheeled out

A high-tech trolley which houses both an oven and a fridge is being trialled by European Rail Catering on a number of trains. The revolutionary Prego Express Trolley was designed by John Worker Design in Oxfordshire.

European Rail Catering has recently changed its name from OBS Services, which was bought out by its managers from British Rail 18 months ago. The new corporate identity was designed by Raymond Loewy International, which also created the Prego retail brand.

A Prego Café Bar concept has been developed to serve quality coffee and bread products on board. Interior design for the buffet concept is by London group Astound, says ERC marketing manager Josie Porter.

Martyn Cornwall Design Management has created the identity, train livery design and identity guidelines for North Western Trains, which is owned by Great Western Holdings. The new look (below) was launched on Sunday.
