Royal Mail searches for designer George Knipe

George T Knipe was responsible for designing three of the Wilding definitives, now 50 years on Royal Mail is keen to find out what became of Knipe.

Knipe, born in 1918, was trained in the photogravure process at Harrisons printers before the First World War and was later employed there as a commercial layout artist.

During his time he designed the 1948 Silver Wedding 21é2d stamp and was later to work on three of the 18 Wilding definitives.
