Conran itching to reply to Bayley’s banter

Old friends, it would seem, can say what they like about each other without fear of retribution – we hope.

On his long-time chum Sir Terence Conran, former Design Museum supremo Stephen Bayley says in a recent profile of El Tel in The Observer, ‘Probably no one else has contributed more to the style and substance of life in Britain over the past 50 years.’ He continues, ‘I think he should be given the clap he so richly deserves.’

Venereal disease seems a bit harsh to wish on the venerable septuagenarian, however, Bayley insists it is an ‘in joke’ between the two that he was throwing back at Conran.

He did not, however, provide an explanation of why or how it started.
