Design and advertising can learn from each other

With regard to your Vox Pop on advertising and design (DW 23 August), we should be inspired by Fallon McElligott ad agency and Joe Duffy Design, which have been acting as sister companies for years.

We should also recognise British Design & Art Direction’s efforts to persuade advertising and design to cross-fertilise their skills.

Ad agencies could learn from the holistic approach of design groups and the way designers produce flexible solutions to a brief.

Design groups could learn from the strategic rigour and adversarial honing of ideas of ad agencies, plus the equal emphasis on writing and art direction skills.
