Social has created the name and identity for the newly refurbished bar Good Godfrey’s at the Waldorf Hotel in London.

After being approached by Hilton Hotels and Resorts in January, Social was briefed to create a quintessentially English identity that referenced the buzz and glamour of the bar during the pre-war era, says Social partner Steve Lucker. The bar has been refurbished by Design LSM.

He adds, ’The bar is a piece of London’s history and as we did more research it got more and more interesting.’

The name Good Godfrey’s is derived from Howard Godfrey, a famous band leader at the Waldorf in the 1920s, and plays on the classic English phrase, says Lucker.

Social has created a plaque-like marque and a signature, both of which will be used on the bar’s handmade menus, communications and signage.
