Brighton-based consultancy Wild Dog Design has created the visual interface for an iPad app to accompany brand case-study book Bold.

The consultancy was commissioned to develop visuals for the app by developer Spacebar, which is working for publisher Kogan Page.

The free app has been designed to accompany the title ’Bold: How brands can be brave in business and win’. It allows the reader to compare their brand with brands in the book, which include Virgin Galactic and O2.

The consultancy says the app ’serves to promote the book, while also enabling readers to unlock individually recommended chapters’. These can be bought as standalone PDFs. Wild Dog managing director Michael Hughes says, ’With each chapter there’s a questionnaire that builds into a modular graph to show the strengths and weaknesses of your brand.’

He adds, ’The intention is to get people to buy appropriate chapters of the book – it takes a very static book and uses it much more like a sales tool.’

Wild Dog creative director Simon Avery says, ’We wanted to bring in really bold typography and colours – we had to get the facts and figures looking interesting.’

He adds, ’The concept with the navigation is that you can tap out of screens to create layers of pages. You don’t have to click back and forth to navigate.’

The iPad app launches this week.
