Restaurateurs must not succumb to greed

You write that Harvey Nichols has “beaten off” competition from us and Anthony Worrall Thompson for the Oxo Tower restaurant (DW 24 November).

If “beating off” means paying an unrealistically high rental for the space then indeed we are the losers, but I really do believe that restaurateurs should carefully consider their overheads.

I very much hope that we shall not see another Sock Shop saga in the restaurant trade as greed overcomes logic.
