Woudhuysen in intelligent Philips move

James Woudhuysen, associate director at the Henley Centre for Forecasting for the past four years, is joining Philips Sound and Vision as manager for worldwide market and intelligence.

Woudhuysen will be based in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, and will concentrate on consumer electronics. “I’m running a team which is dedicated to looking at the future of consumer attitudes, behaviour and circumstances. Design will obviously be a huge consideration,” he says.

Woudhuysen will remain a fellow of the Henley Centre. “His art and design talent combined with his information and technology skills make him hard to replace,” says a spokeswoman. He is expected to continue as a professor of contemporary design at Leicester’s De Montfort University.

A former European director of the then Fitch RS’s Exploratory Design Laboratory, Woudhuysen joined the Henley Centre in 1991.
