Life’s ups and downs; Culturalties; For the Record; Objects to Use

Life’s ups and downs is a limited edition photographic book raising money for people who are getting their lives back together. It is published by The Big Issue in the North and designed by Peter Ward at Communication Design. The book includes photographs by Vince Frost, Richard Seymour, Vaughan Oliver, Terence Conran, Jonathan Barnbrook, Sandro Sodano, Rankin, James Dyson, Lewis Blackwell, Tom Dixon and many others. The book retails at £25.

The Cultural Ties project was originated by Kapil Jariwala of the Jariwala/ Westzone gallery. Jariwala invited 77 international artists to design a limited edition tie and the book Culturalties follows the project, from concept through to production. The book is published by Westzone Publishing and retails at £25.

Objects to Use by Ida van Zijl is a portrait of Dutch industrial designer and Droog Design co-founder Gijs Bakker and is published by 010 Publishers. Designed by Thomas Buxó, it analyses Bakker’s design method on the basis of descriptions of his designs, his influence as a teacher and the setting up of the Droog Design Foundation.
