McDonalds picks Design Bridge

The McDonald’s hotel project, called Golden Arch Hotels, is being designed in conjunction with London design consultancy Design Bridge.

The fast food chain is set to open two hotels in Switzerland which use a variation of the golden arches brand identity. A spokeswoman for McDonald’s Suisse Holding says the brand strategy for the Swiss hotels has been created by Design Bridge. Interiors are being designed by Swiss design group Joehnk Interior Design, she adds.

Design Bridge has confirmed it has carried out a strategic brand evaluation and identity for a McDonald’s hotel concept, believed to be Golden Arch Hotels.

Two four-star hotels are scheduled for opening at the end of March and beginning of April in Switzerland. The concept is expected to be rolled out across Europe, including the UK, if successful.

One 211-room hotel will be located close to Zurich Airport, and the other hotel, with room for 80 people, will be located in western Switzerland on a new stretch of motorway connecting Germany and Austria with France.

The project is a joint venture between McDonald’s Suisse Holding and its partner McDonald’s Corporation.

The hotels will target business travellers during the week and families and young adults on weekends. The hotels will feature the same red and yellow colour scheme of the restaurants and will offer Internet access, an on-line booking service and fast check-in/ out.
