Glasgow kicks off celebrations

Glasgow will kick off its year as UK City of Architecture and Design on Saturday, with an event designed by freelance lighting artist Stephen Hurrel and produced by UZ Events.

Hurrel will project light and images on to Glasgow landmarks in a celebration of the city’s architecture. The show will include Glasgow University Tower, Park Circus, the Daily Record building and St Mary’s Cathedral.

Saturday will also see the opening of Winning: the design of sports, the first of around 300 events in Glasgow this year. The exhibition was designed by Ron Arad Associates and will be held in the McLellan Galleries.
