Shopping mall by Nowicka Stern

Nowicka Stern’s design proposals for revamping the exterior of Marlands Shopping Centre in Southampton have been granted planning permission, after six months of consultation with the local planning committee.

The design aims to unify the building’s disparate elements and give it a coherent identity, says Nowicka Stern designer Wayne Craig. A facade will be added to the centre, and further work on its identity is planned for the future.

“The new-look building will use a uniform material and consistent graphics. It will also aim to give a clearer idea of the building’s function,” adds Craig.

The client, property developer The Heron Group, is now working on a tender package.
