Door-stoppers, not crime-stoppers

Conrad Smith of hotel interiors group RPW is still smarting from a shocking opportunist theft from his car.

The thieves, rather than following the normal modus operandi by stealing either the vehicle, its contents or stereo, chose to steal one of its doors.

The puzzling theft, from outside a busy restaurant, must have involved more engineering expertise than old fashioned hot-wiring. And the crime’s timing made for an interesting conversation shortly afterwards, when the car was presented for its MOT test.
