Manchester graphics group Drawing Board has acquired six-strong local group Garson Design & Advertising to offer clients a broader marketing service.
The deal, which is for an undisclosed sum, goes live on Tuesday and will see Garson dropping its name and moving into Drawing Board’s offices.
Garson will boost nine-strong Drawing Board’s graphics and strategic offering, and brings its advertising and event management skills to the mix. The group will benefit in turn from Drawing Board’s client base and being part of a bigger group. There are no redundancies on either side.
“The days have gone when blue-chip clients use their design groups simply to produce a visual representation of their marketing. Increasingly, clients require us to act as consultants with significant input at the planning stage of their long-term marketing strategies,” says Drawing Board managing director Richard Morris.
Morris will continue as managing director of the enlarged group, with Garson principal Linda Garson becoming director of sales and marketing.
The enlarged group will continue to work on pure design and pure advertising projects as well as joint advertising/design projects. It does not yet have any sector-straddling commissions.
