Students welcome to use stock images

I am writing in response to Adrian Lawless’ letter Are students permitted to use stock images? (DW 1 May).
At Photonica, we encourage student use of our images and have publicised this commitment with our sponsorship of The Proctor & Stevenson 11th Annual Student Design Awards and Falmouth Art College quarterly student magazine Lizard.
The Copyright, Designs & Patents Act (1998) specifically allows for the use of photography in an educational context.
I encourage Adrian, and others in this position, to make use of our catalogues and imagery, while asking that students treat our imagery with the same respect that we expect from our commercial clients.
