Famous Harry Ramsden’s chips into ale

Fish and chip restaurant chain Harry Ramsden’s now has its own-label ale, designed by Leeds consultancy State of the Art.

State of the Art creative director Debbie Seal explains that the label aims to be “traditional, as Harry Ramsden’s is 68 years old, but not too traditional”. She confirms that there was no pitch for the job.

“The client wanted to promote the Harry Ramsden name on the label, but fit visually with brewer Black Sheep,” she says.

The label features sheep’s wool and the fonts are Albertus Regular and Snell Roundhand Bold.

The beer will be available in the 15 Harry Ramsden’s restaurants, following a successful trial in three outlets during recent months.
