Call for forum on interiors

A group of interior designers has pledged to convene a regular forum to a voice for the discipline within the creative industries and the wider world.

Ten leading designers met at BDG McColl’s offices on Monday to address the issues. Central to these is their positioning against architects, who some feel are encroaching on their territory. There was also much discussion on raising the profile of interior design through media coverage.

The consensus was that such a voice is needed. Whether it will come from within an existing design body such as the Design Business Association, or as a separate group, will be decided at a future forum.

The date for the next session has yet to be fixed, but Callum Lumsden, who called the meeting, has asked those interested to e-mail him on callum@ldp.co.uk giving a single sentence view of what they would want from the forum.
