ScottishTelecom dials 999 for Thus identity

Glasgow design consultancy 999 Design has rebranded ScottishTelecom as Thus, in an effort to expand the network’s reach across the UK.

The consultancy was appointed nine weeks ago, following an eight-way paid creative pitch against unnamed rivals. The new corporate identity will be introduced nationally over the next 12-18 months.

In addition to Internet, interactive, data, telecommunications and call centre services, Thus is planning to develop next-generation integrated Internet, e-commerce and data solutions.

Research had found that a name and corporate identity change would benefit Scottish Telecom when competing against more established brands and achieving these advances, says a company spokesman.

999 Design joint managing director Richard Bissland says the design brief was to give the telecommunications group a “more contemporary” look. “We had to make the company look faster, bolder and more agile, with the name reflecting that in the market place.”

ScottishTelecom managing director Bill Allan describes the current climate as “exciting times” for the company. “We now offer a broader range of enhanced services on a pan-UK basis. The change of name will help drive the business forward and mark a new momentum in the company’s development.”
