Expansion from the East to the West may benefit the UK

I fully agree with your editorial discussing issues surrounding the expansion of UK design (Comment, DW 24 August).

As the UK director of Mildberry, which was founded in Moscow in 1999, I can assure you that there are a growing number of agencies in the East looking to expand westwards, including into the UK. However, I believe this is going to be of increasing benefit to the developing independent design networks in the UK industry.

At Mildberry, we are offering growing and diverse brand communication services in Russia, which are being sourced and originated in London, and completed in Moscow.

Multinational clients, like Unilever, understand that this is smart purchasing. The category experience of a more developed and sophisticated market being supported by highly creative, efficient and cost-effective teams in the local emerging sector.

Britain is still exporting big brand ideas and creative talent – we just have to find more innovative ways to do this.
