CWT lays table for Crafts Council show

Product designer Tomoko Azumi and Carter Wong Tomlin have collaborated on the design of the Crafts Council’s next exhibition, Table Manners: Contemporary International Ceramics.

Azumi has created the structural elements for the exhibition space, while Carter Wong Tomlin has drawn up its identity, exhibition graphics and marketing collateral. Both of the design teams were appointed in the spring.

The exhibition displays the work of 18 UK and international tablewear-makers, questioning why craftspeople make tablewear, how economic and social pressures shape its production, and how we use, understand and value household items, such as bowls, plates and mugs.

Julia Ravenscroft, exhibitions officer at the Crafts Council, says the exhibition’s overall look is ‘very contemporary and sophisticated, with a clean build and graphic’.

The exhibition launches this week and will run until 26 February. It will tour the UK for about a year afterwards.
