Gustafson joins 20/20 to make ‘dream team’

Rune Gustafson has joined London retail specialist 20/20 Design and Strategy Consultants as a board director.

The move follows Gustafson’s departure last December from client advisory agency EDR “to pursue other interests” (DW 15 December 1995).

20/20 is “not big on titles”, according to creative head Bernard Dooling, but Gustafson will effectively be managing director of its main design and strategic business and also a shareholder in the group.

This will allow consultancy co-founder Richard Mott to focus more on his consultancy work with clients such as Daewoo and Mothercare, though Gustafson will also take on strategic work with clients. Bryan Wright continues to head up group subsidiary 1/2/1 Interactive Media.

Gustafson’s appointment is in line with 20/20’s aim “to increase the sphere of influence with clients”, says Dooling, adding that the group is also looking at ways to target Europe. “Rune is a true internationalist,” he says.

“We realised that to go forward as a business we didn’t have enough skills. It was natural to think of Rune,” he adds. “We’ve got a dream team now.”

EDR is still seeking to appoint at least two more staff, though not as a direct replacement for Gustafson, says a spokesman.
