Sit on this if you want to make my Valentine’s Day

As Valentine’s Day approaches and shops overflow with hearts, chocolates and ugly teddy bears, Design Week has found something a bit more classy.

Furniture manufacturer Vitra is re-issuing its 1960 Heart Cone Chair, by Danish designer Verner Panton, and is donating £50 to the British Heart Foundation for every chair purchased from its showroom in London’s Clerkenwell.

Taking the shape of an inverted cone with a curvaceous heart-shaped back, the chair’s design has been altered only slightly since the original came out in the 1960s and now features a revolving base.

Red will undoubtedly prove popular, but it is also available in decidedly un-Valentine-ish blue, orange and black.
