MBE honours for Matthews

This year’s New Year Honours list included an MBE for postage stamp designer Jeffrey Matthews (pictured below).

Matthews, who together with his wife operates as Charity Boxhall, designed the UK industry standard Jeffrey Matthews Colour Palette in 1984.

Matthews produced his first commission for The Post Office in 1959 and in 1990 he redesigned the Penny Black to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the world’s first adhesive postage stamp.
