Crabtree Hall cuts Wal-Mart down to size

Rodney Fitch is correct when he says that working on stores the size of Wal-Mart presents a challenge experienced by only a few designers.

At Crabtree Hall we’ve been involved with the design of 15,000sqm of retail space in various countries outside the UK for nearly 15 years now.

The latest Tesco Extra at Peterborough is pushing 10,000sqm and incorporates a 50:50 food/non-food split. Given similar planning opportunities and continuing design refinement it is a home-grown format that should give Wal-Mart a run for its money.
