Europa shops around with SCG

London-wide convenience store chain Europa Foods is to rollout a new corporate identity and store layout for its 60 outlets. The changes have been developed by design group SCG London.

The company’s 650sqm flagship Notting Hill store reopened recently carrying the changes to its logo, facia and interior as part of a £750 000 refit. Other shops will be revamped in the future, though their is no specific timescale.

SCG creative director Mike Furniss says, “We have adopted a refreshing theme to make the stores a lot fresher and brighter. This has been achieved using contemporary lighting, new fixtures and strong icons of food in-store.”

Replacing the previous yellow signage will be a “very bright yellow facia with a curved top”, adds Furniss. “We have also evolved the typeface and made it sharper, while the logo is suspended from the facia. It is very spectacular.”

Europa is facing increased competition from stores such as Tesco Metro.
