Learn about the type masters

A new MA course in typeface design is to be launched by the Department of Typography and Graphic Communication at The University of Reading. It is understood to be the first course of its type in the UK to concentrate entirely on the discipline. It will commence in October.

The course will concentrate equally on the history, principles and techniques of the discipline. Subjects will include principles of digital type and applications of typeface design, plus history of letterforms from ancient times and legibility research.

Those teaching will include type historian James Mosley and designers Gerard Unger and Michael Harvey. Course director is Christopher Burke.
